MetLife Releases “Blueprint” for Aging in Place

E-mail Print
More than 35 million Americans are over 65, and that population is rising at an unprecedented rate.  The MetLife Mature Market Institute recently responded to this shift with “The MetLife Report on Aging in Place 2.0: Rethinking Solutions to the Home Care Challenge.”  The report serves as a “blueprint” for helping our growing population of older adults stay in their homes, or, “age in place”, through adjustments to residential design, health care, and other services.  Click here to read the full news release (PDF).

The recommendations of the report by the MetLife Mature Market Institute will benefit not just older adults, but entire communities.  When aging adults stay active and engaged, they enhance the vitality of their neighborhoods, contribute talent to community projects, and patronize local shops and cultural events.  Partners’ Aging in Place initiative encourages communities to take an active role in fostering age-friendly cities, building on the efforts of health care and other service providers.

Is your community prepared to help residents “Age in Place?”  Read more about the Partners’ initiative and access resources for the movement here.
